
Although Ubisoft are gearing up to launch an iPhone game version of the upcoming Assassin's Creed 2, they've also opted to use an iPhone app as a marketing tool for the console version.
Assassin's Creed 2 Experience is a free app that offers news, screen-shots, trailers and links to their Twitter feed and Facebook. To add interaction to the app, there's also a series of sliding block puzzles to work through (because we all love them). If you're quick to slide the picture into place, then you stand a chance of being on the leaderboard for bragging rights.
If Ubisoft's marketing approach proves successful, then there's a big chance other publishers will follow suit and launch their own promo apps. It'll then be a question of who can launch the best one.
The main page of the app reminds us that there are only 54 days until the assassinations are unleashed upon us. Let's hope it's worth the wait.
