Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10

Golf never used to be the coolest sport in the world. In fact 10-15, years ago it was even considered a 'boring' one. This was the case until one man burst onto the golfing scene in the summer of '96, an individual by the name of Tiger Woods who galvanised the golfing scene. He revolutionised the sport and has now made it officially cool to like golf. We gamers are currently reaping the benefits of the sports growing popularity and its acceptance in society today with the Tiger Woods golf series. The latest offering has some new features, but how far can a golf series really go? We are about to find out.

The game immediately starts with an overview of the new features available on Tiger Woods 10. The stand out change from its predecessors is "Play The Pros" mode. This allows you to play tournaments with the professional golfers, swing by swing, via EA's online service. Good timing again by EA, this came just as The Open Championships were upon us, which meant you could pick your favourite golfer and measure your score against theirs in real time, something that will continue over the next year with further tournaments. Every detail has been thought of for this mode, even down to the weather. You will have to face the same conditions your chosen professional has to in real life. So if your pro has to take a pressure shot in the rain, then so do you.

My Career is the main centrepiece mode. In this, you create your own golfer and guide him through a PGA Season, constantly improving your skills to compete with the best. You'll compete in tournaments and take advantage of long practice rounds to be the best and (hopefully) win the Fed-Ex Cup. This is all set up in a calendar format, which you mark dates on to schedule when you are going to compete and when you're going to practice. The fact that you start off with such poor skills can be infuriating however, particularly when trying to compete with the drives and putting of your opponent.

Tournament Challenge mode allows you to re-create some of golfing's greatest moments. With your created golfer you are set a challenge and you must achieve the requirements to win points and unlock more challenges. When you go to compete in scenarios re-living Tiger Woods' finer moments, the man himself gives you a step by step account of what it was like at the actual event.
